Stage 17, 2009 TDF: Andreas Klier gets support from Columbia HTC after a vicious crash. Bernie sees Kliers torn up leg. Doesn't matter if you are on another team, everyone is a family in TDF and teams take care of each otehr. Well, almost everyone.

Our friend Phil

the first day I stuck my head into the booth in a broadcast trailer at the daily finish line of the Tour (a very tight space) Phil was quick to make faces as I filmed him and Paul. It was about the only way he could welcome me to the 'set' during his broadcast. I couldn't have imagined what a helpful friend this icon of cycling would turn out to be.

Thoroughly thorough.

It's not enough just to scour every second of footage we shot. If this movie is to be something truly great I must also study and take notes on everything French TV shot. And then don't forget we had cameras on bikes, with soigniers and in team cars (both) almost every day. It's not enough to just scrub this footage looking for the conversations and shots I know are there. I will only be satisfied if I watch every frame and listen to every conversation. From Tour de Suisse to Tour de France, Tour of Missouri to team camp in Canary Islands. For a guy who likes to ride his bike I sure am watching a lot of 'tv' these days...

While doing some research I came across this gem.

Been busy editing

Sorry for the lack of posts. Been dealing with power-outages and back to back blizzards. Been keeping steady with the edit and now I have a spare generator to keep this show on the road come blizzard or blackout. Here are some photos of other cameras at the tour. Funny when you are there you feel akin to other camera guys. Always a friendly nod or smile - until you're vying for a shot. Then it's all elbows. Guess its like a sort of peloton.

Three Feet and Counting

As long as the power stays on the editing machine will churn forward. Good thing considering the weather outside. I'm shooting 2 cameras on timelapse from yesterday till the snow stops piling but the 3' tall wood bear I have in my back yard is about to disappear. Good thing I bought coffee the other day. Onward.
The drifts are now over waist deep.
